Details RAF base, now disused. This was the domestic site for RAF Buchan which was opened in 1952 as an Air Defence Radar Unit (see NK14SW0021 for the operational site). It included a 2-storey office block, medical centre, 46 bed Officer's mess, 31 bed Sergeant's mess, chapel, children's nursery, motor transport buildings, warehousing, gymnasium hall and ancillary buildings. The domestic site was sold in 2005 . The former officer's mess is now a hotel.
