Details Remains of castle dating from the 17th century, Built around 1640, it was burned in 1689. It was a plain, oblong house with no evidence of vaults. Only the east wall remains. The castle is believed to have been burned down after the Battle of Killiecrankie by a party of the Royal troops. Simpson (1949) concluded that this was a castellated laird's house rather than a castle.
