Depopulated settlement. One longhouse, 25m by 6m, has two partitions, an abutting square enclosure, 20m by 20m, with a rectangular structure at rear, 12m by 6m. A second house, 10m by 5m, has a kiln, 4.5m in diameter, at the west end on knoll. Another longhouse, 15m by 5m, stands to seven courses and has an extended stone platform to the front with the back foundations set in to the slope. There is an L-shaped longhouse,10m by 10m by 5m, with another partitioned longhouse,18m by 6m. An enclosure, 20m by 18m, has a structure,15m by 5m, tacked on outside. On the outside of the head dyke is another longhouse,18m by 5m. Extensive runrig below settlement, also linear stone clearance heaps. Walkover survey was carried out by Cameron Archaeology in June/July 2015 to assess damage on the Mar Lodge estate resulting from flooding in the wake of storm Bertha. Walkover survey by Highland Archaeology Services along the river Dee in 2023 (NO08NW0055) included part of this site (within 10 m of the rover) but no features were noted.
