Details Two large boulders are said to be remains of a stone circle. They lie on a slightly convex spur of the hill with a spectacular view towards Lochnagar in the southwest. The most northerly stone appears to have been levered up with smaller chocking stones placed under it. There is a clear cleavage plane on the southeast side which may have been an attempt to split the stone further. This stone is of pinky granite and measures 1.75m by 0.80m and stands 1.35m high. The other large boulder, of quartzite, lying circa 20.5 m to the southwest appears more naturally placed. It measures circa 1.75m by 1.80m, 0.75m thick. A third stone lies circa 11m to the northwest of the southern stone and is of much smaller size, circa 0.50m long. It had an upper surface of natural 'rills' of eroded rock standing proud. There are two possible cupmarks on upper surface. Two smaller stones lie over the fence to the south. There is no other evidence of stones placed in a circle nearby. The site was said to have been partially excavated by Alexander Keiller in the 1930s when he found cremated bones. There appears to be no written evidence of this. HES survey in 2015 concluded that this site was not an antiquity.
