Remains of a depopulated settlement. The remains of longhouses and enclosures can be seen across this site. The 1st edition OS map depicts around 16 roofed and 32 unroofed buildings and structures, various enclosures and a limekiln to the south west. The 2nd edition OS map depicts eight roofed and 24 unroofed buildings here, various enclosures and a new limekiln at the east end of the settlement (the previous limekiln being marked now as 'Old limekiln'). Only two roofed buildings appears to survive, both cottages, one in the centre of the site which has been extended, and one to the west of this. Described in the Aberdeenshire OS Name Books, 1865-1871 Aberdeenshire volume 19 (OS1/1/19/67) as: 'A small farm house, one storey, with numerous offices and ruins near; thatched, and only in middling repair. Colonel Farquharson, Proprietor.'. A Mr Archibald Morgan is noted as being resident at Rinabaich at this time.
A photographic survey of the cottage was carried out in 2019 prior to development.
