Remains of hut circles and an associated field system in an area of whin and bracken. In an area centred at NO489988 there is a group of 15 cairns close to a prehistoric wall. There are two other cairns at NO48979860 and NO49069830 and another wall winding south from a point just west of them. A possible burial cairn, oval and maximum 20 m across and 1.5 m high, stands at NO48769874. There is an enclosure on a slight eminence at NO48569864. It is so heavily overgrown that it is impossible to classify. The field system centred at NO488988 comprises clearance cairns and well-defined field banks, the cairns ranging from 3-5 m across. A hut-circle lies to the south of the road, between the road and the disused railway at NO485986. At NO49029828 are the footings of a depopulated house with associated enclosure. A large monolith at NO48929885, has probably been used as a fence post but is probably not of archaeological significance.
