Details Site of a possible fort. At Dinnet Bridge there was formerly a ford which at one time was guarded by a fort, noted as still traceable at the end of the 19th century. At NO457981 is a large roughly oval rise in marshy land, surrounded by drainage ditches which give an impression of a moat. Fenton Wyness believes there was a ford at NO471988. The old road from Dinnet appears to terminate circa 300 yds upstream from the oval rise. It has also been suggested that this oval rise is the site of a medieval castle or manor house.
