Small farmstead of Upper Bogieshiel, depicted on the OS map of 1867 as a Z-plan steading with an L-plan building to the south of it. A single building lies to the west and another two to the northwest, one with attached enclosures. Several other enclosures surround the buildings. About 50m to the north is another building. By the 2nd edition map the steading has become U-shaped with open court to the west. One of the single buildings to the west has gone. Today the buildings have been altered and it is now named Bogenshiel Lodge. The building to the north is now ruined. The lodge is of 18th century date, of 2-storeys and 3-bays, with early 19th century additions and alterations. It is harled on the south and east elevations, the north and west of granite rubble with long and short dressings. The roof is of grey and purple slate with tiled and lead ridges, coped wallhead, gablehead and ridge stacks with octagonal cans and cast iron rainwater goods. A photographic survey of the farmhouse was carried out in 2018 prior to proposed alterations and extension.
