Former textile yard, dating from the 17th century, with an enclosing seawall which pre-dates the 18th century harbour improvements. The interior stonework retains evidence of a large fireplace to the west gable at basement level, where there would have probably been a ground floor kitchen. A smaller, finer example to the east at ground level, which was probably the original first floor, suggest that this building may originally have been a hall house. The building was associated with the Keith Family of Kintore. There was originally a forestair at the rear of the building but this was removed prior to conversion. Converted to residential in 2001. A watching brief was maintained by Murray Archaeological Services during development works. A substantial, hitherto unknown, dividing wall was uncovered within the building, and, externally, the foundations of the perimeter sea wall were exposed. The 17th century sea wall comprises coursed squared rubble base, surmounted by snecked squared rubble and boulder rubble courses.
