Details Decorated Gothic Church attributed to Ross and Macbeth, 1901-3. Constructed of coursed tooled rubble with ashlar dressings. Large gable to High Street with triple entrances divided by cluster colonnettes with stiff leaf capitals. Triple geometric traceried windows above and gable parapet with heavy quatrefoil decoration. To left, bowed wing housing gallery stairs lit by cusped lancet windows. To right, 3-stage tower with battered base, lancets, corbelled angle turrets to upper stage with crenellated parapet, surmounted by facetted spire with lucarnes at base. 5-bay body of church with paired, cusped windows to ground and gallery and steeply pitched slate roof. On the wall west of the organ, an oak memorial tablet to those killed during the First World War was unveiled in the church on 6 February 1921. It reads 'Erected by the High U.F.Church, Forres, to the Glory of God, and in memory of those who gave their lives in the war, 1914-1919', the dedication followed by a list of 35 names. To the right of the organ is a World War II memorial with the dedication 'To the glory of God and in memory of the men of this congregation who gave their lives in the war 1939 - 1945. War memorial plaques of the First and Second World war set in a wooden frame in the west aisle were brought here from Castlehill Church (NJ05NW0151) when it closed in 1972.
