Details Natural rock outcrop. The place name is derived from the Gaelic for 'stone' and 'woman'. An eighteenth-century account tells how this site was once a focus for pregnant women, who travelled from miles to visit the site in the hope that they would be granted a painless labour and quick delivery. Two armchair-like seats are said to have been excavated into the outcrop.
