Details Distillery, still in use. Established in 1878 by W. Grant and Co, merged in 1887 with Islay Distillery Co to create Highland Distilleries Ltd. In 1898, the distillery was extended, doubling its capacity to 300,000 gallons, but in 1922 one of its warehouse was destroyed by fire along with 200,000 gallons of maturing whisky. Subsequently resurrected, and by 1963 the number of stills had increase from four to six. It was further extended from six to ten stills in 1980.
