Details The planned small town of Fochabers was built in the 18th century by Alexander, 4th Duke of Gordon. The original village stood nearer Gordon castle but the Duke felt it spoiled his view and had it demolished. The present small town is built on a grid system with the main street running northwest-southeast with a village square in the middle with fountain.
