Cottage, built in 1823-4 with later alterations. It is a harled, West-facing single-storey and attic, three-bay cottage, with small, single-storey, single-bay, set-back wings at the North and South gables, and with rear wing at the East. A centre door is masked by a later gabled timber porch with side windows with margined glazing. There are flanking windows with shutters, small windows in West elevation of the North and South wings (the West window in the South wing is blocked), two later canted dormers and there is varied multi-pane glazing throughout. There are end stacks and a piended and gabled graded Banffshire slate roof with deep eaves. It is formally a gate lodge of the Gordon Castle estate (NJ35NW0010), and is sited at the entrance of the now disused driveway. The 1st and 2nd edition OS maps also show small buildings in the Eastern area of the enclosed space around the cottage, which would appear to now be derelict. Also known as Roman Camp Gate Lodge.
