House, still in use, dated circa 1850. It is shown on the 1st edition OS map as a rectangular building named Poplar Cottage, with a rectangular building to the west and three square outhouses. On the 2nd edition OS map it has been altered to L-plan, and one of the outbuildings has been removed. It is no longer named Poplar Cottage. Current maps show the remaining two outbuildings have been removed. It is a two-storey, three-bay house, with some plain Tudor detail. The exterior is harled and has tooled ashlar margins. There is a central door, and tripartites in the outer ground floor bays. The first floor windows break the wallhead in finialled and gabled dormers. Lying-pane glazing is used throughout. There are end stacks to the slate roof. The building to the west is a former gighouse and stable, constructed of clay and bool walling with a slate roof (some local slates).
