Distillery, still in use, and site of mill. An oatmeal mill was established here in 1823. The OS 1st edition depicts 'Strathisla Mill (corn)' as a group of at least 6 buildings, including a U-plan range, with a garden to the north. The corn mill was converted into a distillery in 1891-2 and originally named Glenisla-Glenlivet. It was renamed Strathmill in 1895. It is depicted on the OS 2nd edition as three large buildings of the with smaller structures alongside a railway siding to the east. Hume in 1977 noted that much of the present complex is modern but a block of maltings with a double kiln survives. The distillery was used by the army during World War II, at which time a rifle and machine-gun firing range were set up opposite the entrance to the distillery.
