Details Harbour, built in 1817-19 by William Minto to a Thomas Telford design, with alterations and an additional quay added by William Robertson in 1834 and a further extension by John Willet in 1886-7. It is a classic small harbour, with a triangular basin enclosed by a curved pier to the West and a straight pier to the North, both rubble built. A second straight pier of concrete has been added to the North, beyond the earlier straight pier, to form a stilling basin. There is a small painted metal circular harbour light at the seaward end of the concrete North Pier from circa 1888. It comprises a small tapering circular section sheet iron tower with cylindrical lantern, dome top, with ventilator.
