Details Site of Altyre House, renovated under Sir William Gordon Cumming at the end of the 19th Century by John Kinross, architect, and demolished 1962. It may have been built on site of earlier manor. The estate has been owned by Cumming (Comyn) family since 14th century. There is a surviving associated walled garden to the north (NJ05SW0077). The site is now largely occupied by agricultural buildings. A watching brief was carried out by AOC in July 2013 on groundworks for a new dairy shed but no significant archaeological deposits were revealed.
