House and farmstead, still in use. The OS 1st edition map shows a rectangular building set within gardens, to the south of which is a complex of buildings. The southernmost is fed via a lade from a millpond to the south. The 2nd edition map shows alterations and additions to the house and associated buildings. The millpond and dam is still shown. Some of the buildings have since been removed but many remain in use, and the pond is extant on current OS maps. Minmore House was once home to Captain George Smith, the founder of the Glenlivet Distillery, who bought the farm in 1840 when he was already well-established in the whisky business. In 1858, Smith transferred his distillery operations to the Minmore site and consequently the former farmhouse stands just to the north of an extensive distillery complex (NJ12NE0009).
