Details Remains of 15 disused quarries of varying sizes dating from prior to the 1867 1st edition OS map to after the end of the 1915 2nd edition ones. Depicted on the current edition (2006) as disused. According to the New Statistical Account (1845) stone from a quarry on the south side of the hill is said to have been used for building Elgin Cathedral (NJ26SW0001), and Dr Gray's Hospital, Elgin (NJ26SW0435). The quarry at NJ 1884 6287 is named Hospital Quarry on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps.
