Details House designed by James B. Dunn, 1930-32. Substantial 2-storey and attic house with north entrance front and south facing main elevation. Scottish Renaissance details. Constructed of mixed bullfaced rubble with tooled ashlar dressings. Entrance at north in rear central slightly projecting gabled bay with service entrance left (east) screened by round-arched balustraded service court and to right (west). Built-in double garage with plank doors and long wrought thistle finialled iron hinges. 4-bay south front with set back 2-storey wing (garage with library above) at the west and single storey and attic service range at east. Central arcaded loggia framed by 2 round-headed arches supported by squat columns after manner of Elgin High Street 17th century merchant houses. There is a pair of segmental-headed gabletted dormers break wallhead above. Advanced and gabled flanking bays with ground and first floor tripartite windows. Multi-pane sashes with plate glass lower lights in front windows. Most angles rounded and corbelled out at first floor height. Wallhead and ridge stacks, crowsteps and graded Banffshire slate roof with stone ridges. Photographic recording was carried out in 2023 ahead of proposed alterations.
