War memorial, commemorating 'old boys' from the orphanage killed during the First and Second World Wars. When war broke out 289 residents of the orphanage went to fight but only 227 returned home. It stands within the churchyard of St Margaret's Church (NJ24SE0019) and was erected in 1924. Another 20 names were added to the monument in 1945. Of granite it comprises a wheel cross, on the front face of which is a sword in relief. The front face of the base has a dedication to those in the First World War, with the 62 names listed on the other 3 faces of the base. A plaque affixed to the base of the cross shaft lists those killed in the Second World War. Full transcription of memorial held in AAS Digital Archive.
