Stone lined well, recorded during programme of archaeological works carried out by AOC during December 2015 to January 2016 (NJ26NW0103) at the western access road to the development site. The well was clearly defined and measured 1.9 m north-south by 1.65 m east-west, was lined with coursed stonework creating an internal diameter of circa 1 m. At least four courses of stonework were present with two sandstone steps allowing access to the well. The stonework was unmortared and comprised of water-worn sub angular stones apart from the two steps, which were of a distinctive red sandstone. From the backfill between the two steps an assemblage of 13th-14th century pottery was recovered. The well was completely preserved in situ as it lay circa 0.5 m below the formation level for the access road. It was covered with terram before being carefully sealed under 0.5 m of clean hardcore.
