Period Notes |
Pottery from the well originally believed to be 16th-17th century glazed ware was later reassessed to 13th-14th century in the post ex analysis.
A radiocarbon date of 5630–5517 cal BC (SUERC-73461) was returned from pine charcoal from the backfill around the stonework of the Medieval well, giving a date in the mid-6th millennium BC. This Mesolithic date is an anomaly and due to the incorporation of earlier charcoal into a much later feature.
