Roman bar brooch, found in circa 1998 by a metal-detector after ploughing. The hinged pin is missing. It is concavo-convex in profile with three enamelled strips on the convex head, the outer ones alternating between turquoise blue and a lost colour, the central strip one of orange and a lost colour. The head has two transverse ridges before a plate with three enamelled colours now discoloured. Made of leaded bronze length 69 mm, width 15 mm, height 25 mm. It is an example of a 'Wirral' sub-type bar brooch made in 2nd century AD apparently in North West England. This example is the most northerly findspot of the type.
