Details Rectilinear Modernist town hall, articulated as interlocking blocks. Reinforced concrete frame with pre-cast aggregate facing panels over brick walls. Designed by William Kininmonth of Rowand Anderson, Kininmonth and Paul, dated to 1957-61. Extended in 1975 by Anderson, Kininmonth and Paul. Near-symmetrical frontage with central block with lower recessed wings. Steps up to three boarded two-leaf doors, set between broad windows. First floor projecting on columns, with five large windows and original signage below. Within the building are a stone plaque of St Giles which was originally above the portico of the former town hall on Moray Street which was destroyed by fire in 1939, and a foundation stone of the former town hall. Also a framed flag and banner. Photographic recording was carried out in 2024 ahead of proposed refurbishment and extension.
