Built between 1801 and 1806. The West arches were rebuilt in wood in 1831-2 after the 1829 flood, and then replaced in cast-iron in 1853. There are modern metal balustrades. Listed designation given on 26/01/1971.

Built by George Burn, 1831-2 work by Archibald Simpson, and 1583 work by James Hoby and Co. Thomas Telford had a design for the bridge rejected.
