Details A fairly flat-topped eminence, once the site of a gallows. According to Simpson (1943) waste products of possibly Mesolithic flint industry were dug up on the hillock. OS site visit in 1969 found no evidence of flint working . The name Gallows Hill was then known locally but nothing known of gallows or human remains. RCAHMS site visit 1997 noted that the top of the rise has been truncated by sand extraction, a sand pit being depicted on the OS 2nd edition map.
