Flint flakes found a 'number of years' prior to 1968. Suggested by Simpson (1963) to be a Mesolithic flint-knapping site, using Buchan flint. OS (1968) found no trace of this site during OS field work. This is probably the same site that Callander refers to in 1917 where he says in a PSAS article, "On rough ground on the hill-side above the farm of Broomhill, Strathdon, is a spot where flint flakes used to be found in considerable numbers. It was a regular source from which the neighbouring farming population got their supply of flints wherewith to light their pipes. When I visited the place, about three years ago, there were only a few small-sized chips to be seen."
