Details The farmstead of Newton is depicted on the OS 1st edition map of as an F-shaped steading with main axis east-west. A mill pond lies to the north with lade leading towards the east side of the farm. A similar layout is depicted on the later 2nd edition but there are now two small single buildings to the south of the farm. Today there are later additions. The pond now survives as a marshy hollow.
