Details Old market cross which stood opposite the church and was moved to Castle Hill at NJ 5087 6702 between 1821 and 1830. The cross base remains at this site, the cross head and shaft were removed in 1871. The present market cross in the square appears modern, but as the shaft is hexagonal, 0.3m across, it may be a reconstruction of the old cross, though there is no documentary evidence to verify this.
