Burgh cross, begun in 1675, completed 1695. Originally sited near Old Cullen church (NJ56NW0002), firstly removed to Castle Hill circa 1820 (probably remodelled and supervised by William Robertson), then relocated from Castle Hill to present site and re-erected in 1872. Octagonal polished ashlar (Moray sandstone) buttressed, crocketted pinnacled base surmounted by slender octagonal shaft with finialled apex. The north face has a re-set (probably medieval) cartouche depicting Virgin and Child. The fabric of the cross is predominately Clashach sandstone from Hopeman, although the column had been replaced historically with an unknown sandstone. In the 1980s many sections of the floral finials were replaced with new carved sections using Newton sandstone sourced from a quarry on the outskirts of Elgin. Repaired circa 1985.
