Details Insch railway station, opened by the Great North of Scotland Railway, built circa 1860 and restored in 1996. It is a 2-platform through station, with main offices on the up platform. There is a single storey, 4-bay, U-plan office with gabled entrance, the internal walls timber lined with plaster above. Rectangular-plan waiting room on opposite platform, and ironwork footbridge standard Great North of Scotland Railway pattern. The OS 2nd edition map also shows the signal box (ANI1, still in use - NJ62NW0177), a footbridge to the west of the station buildings (which has since been replaced by a footbridge to the east, NJ62NW0178), signal post, goods shed and crane. The 1st edition OS map also shows a weighing machine.
