Period Notes

Period Notes Founded in 1826. By the 1860s it was the largest duty paying distillery in the Scottish Highlands. It was subsequently bought in 1920 by Captain Charles Grant (son of William Grant, the founder of the Glenfiddich distillery). Acquired by Teachers in 1960. It became part of Allied Distillers in 1976. Production was suspended in 1996. Distilling recommenced in 2001. 18th century house listed 26/07/1999.
