Details Memorial drinking fountain, erected 1878, designed by John Rhind in ornate late gothic style with a crown head. Constructed of polished and tooled ashlar, it has a crocketed corona supported by squat cluster columns, linked at four corners to stumpy facetted columns (formerly supporting pinnacles) linked by flying buttresses. It is all assembled on a square base with cluster column angles and inscribed plaques. The inscription reads: 'Presented to the Town of Banff in memory of Walter Biggar Esq. and Mrs Anne Duff, his wife, 1878'. Walter Biggar was involved in the herring trade. There are biblical inscriptions on the east and west panels.
