Former townhouse, now in use as a shop and house, built in circa 1770 with 19th century additions. It has a three-storey, five-bay regular street frontage (west), with a return gable to Castle Lane (north), and a three-storey and attic rear wing. The building is harled with ashlar margins, a harled gable and a rubble rear. It has a wide segmental-headed keystoned pend arch, with blocked imposts in the south outer bay, closed with plank doors. The principal elevation has a shallow pilastered and corniced entrance in bay two, and three ground floor windows. The fist and second floors have regular fenestration with timber sash and case windows, with longer first floor windows that mainly have 12-pane glazing. The second floor has one blind window, and mainly nine-pane glazing is used. The corrugated asbestos roofs have corniced end and ridge stacks. The pend leads to a centre court, which is shared with 7 Castle Street (NJ66SE0375). Inside, a room in the rear wing has early 19th century simple plaster cornice and beaded panelled doors and window shutters. The Staircase has simple wooden balusters and decorative 19th century coloured glass inset to a window. There is a substantial barrel-vaulted cellar.
