Details Remains of a mill lade which ran from a sluice on the Leuchar Burn south to Garlogie Mill (NJ70NE0010). Dating from after 1827, the lade is depicted on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps biut only part of is shown as a watercourse (drain) on current OS maps. At the southern end a spillway reused part of an earlier lade (NJ70NE0227). The penstock for Lord Cowdray’s 1923 hydropower scheme was laid in the bed of the post-1827 lade from Garlogie dam (NJ70NE0177) to Garlogie Milll: only the northern section from the sluice near Milton of Garlogie to the dam is now visible. The 5ft internal diameter reinforced concrete penstock fed water from the base of Garlogie dam to a surge tank adjacent to the hydroelectric power station (NJ70NE0010). The surge tank supplied water to the hydraulic turbine and alternator in the power station.
