Details Chapel, still in ecclesiastical use, dating from the 16th or 17th century in its current form but originally earlier, built to the south-west of Drum Castle (NJ70SE0003) within its designed landsacpe (NJ70SE0104). The earlier building is said to have been larger. It was re-roofed in 1857, at which time the west window was enlarged and a cross added. In 1864 the masonry was repaired, there were alterations and a credence added. The font is from 1882, and a brass figure of Blessed Virgin (German said to have come from Ausberg) was installed in 1897. A segmentally arched tomb recess of Sir Alexander Irvine (died 1911) from Drum's Aisle St Nicholas, Aberdeen (Aberdeen City HER: NJ90NW0009) re-erected here in 1951.The chapel is orientated to the west, with the altar at the west end. It is a small rubble-built crowstepped rectangle with grotesque heads at the east end. Internally the fittings predominantly date from the Victorian restoration of the building, the altar lab, tomb cover and stoup survivals of the 16th century. The altar slab is believed to have been brought from Dalmaik Church (closed 1820), but possibly originated elsewhere as it may be of 15th century or earlier date: it has five incised consecration crosses.
