Details A Class II symbol stone which was found in a field near the river and was set up at NJ 7036 1478 which was the nearest point to the public road, where it is depicted on the OS 1st edition map. By 1903 it had been removed to Monymusk House. Now moved into Monymusk church (NJ61NE0004). The stone is a pillar of granite, sculptured in semi-relief on one face with an equal-armed decorated cross with hollowed 'arm-pits' which spring from a narrow shaft. Under this is a 'step' symbol and an ornamented disc (possibly a cauldron). A faint trace of a possible enclosure is visible on an aerial photograph in the vicinity where the stone was found.
