Worked chert: a total of 54 pieces of worked chert were found scattered across the hillside during fieldwalking undertaken in the winter of 2002-3. Within this general area an apparently discrete, roughly oval spread, measuring circa 10m x 13m, was identified where 163 additional pieces of chert were recovered. Much of the chert material has been well 'scrubbed' with waste, cores, bladelets, scrapers, small flakes and part of a leaf-shaped arrowhead being present. Seven conjoining upper body and rim sherds from a prehistoric pottery vessel with part of a small side aperture were recovered. Aligned diagonally on the outer surface are what appear to be the impressions of delicately woven fibres. The rough pottery fabric has been approximated using clay and crushed shale from the hillside fired in a wood burning stove. Field walking in 2004-2005 produced a further 329 pieces of worked chert/flint.
