Details Upper and lower stones of a rotary quern found circa 1870 in mossy ground in 'a hollow below west Cults'. They measured 46cm (18 inches) in diameter and were to be passed on to 'Aberdeen Public Museum'. Presently no trace of the quern can be found. A rotary quern has two circular grinding stones used to crush cereals. The grain is crushed between the stones and the finished flour trickles out around the edges of the quern.
