Remains of a cairn of loose stones, with traces of kerb stones. The large cairn is depicted in the corner of a field on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps but is now surrounded by a modern housing estate. It consists of a large mass of stones and boulders and measures 24 metres in diameter and is 4 metres high. This moreover was probably built during the Bronze Age, dating to the early 2nd millennium BC. Cists were sometimes buried below cairns. This site is in a prominent position overlooking lower ground, on a gravel ridge running west to east. It is north of Deeside road overlooking the river. Other cairns in the area are also situated in conspicuous positions, often on the skyline and this could indicate the status or wealth of the interred.
