House, garden and designed landscape depicted on historic OS maps. The 1st edition shows the house set within a designed landscape, which contains the site of a fort or motte (NJ80SE0053). To the southwest is a walled garden and to the north is a U-plan steading, with a pond to the west. By the time of the 2nd edition map there had been some alterations and extensions to the house, and the map shows a formal garden to the east of the house as well as the walled garden to the southwest. A lodge (NJ80SE0681) had been built at the at the west entrance to the estate and the south wing of the steading had also been extended. East of the house, just to the south of the fort, three buildings had been added.
