Details Rig and furrow and remnants of an avenue recorded during walkover survey by Murray Archaeological Services in October 2020 over an area proposed for houses (Plot Nos. 36-40) around the periphery of the estate grounds (see NJ82NW0090). Centred circa NJ8126928523 were two possible rigs running east-west, the centres 7-8 m apart, of maximum height circa 0.3 m, and could be traced for circa 10 m. Another possible rig was noted at NJ8125828473. The rigs pre-date the late 18th century plantation, and may be as early as medieval in date. To the west of these rigs a line of beech trees along a north-south bank indicate the avenue shown on a 1780 estate plan. the bank extends for circa 200 m, measuring 1.5-2 m wide and up to 0.5 m high.
