Details Remains of rig and furrow. Shallow ridges on two areas of the golf course are probably traces of the remains of early agriculture. They may date to the medieval period when horses or oxen were used to pull ploughs which cultivated the land. The shape and spacing of the rigs can tell much about past agricultural practices. The visible remains usually only represent the last ploughing as all previous events will have been obliterated.
