Well, built in 1775, capped and converted into an ice house in the 19th century. Redevelopment of this part of Gilcomston led to the discovery of the old Gilcomston Well, which was built as part of a piped water supply to a number of cisterns in the burgh of New Aberdeen. When this was supplanted in the 1840s by a new water supply, the old granite lined chamber found a new use. It was capped with a domed brick coping and converted into an ice house. The ice house is depicted on the OS 1st edition 25in map (NJ 9354206574). By the turn of the century it had fallen into disuse and was largely forgotten.
