Details Excavation carried out by Aberdeen City Council Archaeological Unit in 1986 following demolition of buildings recorded layers of post-medieval and medieval garden soil, within which were fragments of human bone. This area appears to have been within the precincts of the Carmelite Friary (NJ90NW0006) and near the cemetery which may have been East rather than North of the church. This area was targeted by archaeologists following the major excavation in 1980-1 of the site of the Carmelite friary church at Martin's Lane (NJ90NW0107). This small excavation showed that the area of 19-25 Hadden Street had probably been gardens within the precincts of the Carmelite friary during the medieval period. A small number of human bone fragments were recovered within large depths of garden soil; just to the south of this site, another area was excavated in 1994 (see NJ90NW0006), confirming that this area along Carmelite Street had been the site of the Carmelite friary graveyard. The finds from this site are in the collections of Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums.
