A watching brief was carried out by Aberdeen City Council Archaeological Unit in October 2009 during groundworks for a gas venting trench related to closure of a landfill site. This recorded a drystone dyke depicted on historic OS maps, and in the western part of the area a consumption dyke, now much tumbled. Several features relating to the World War 2 camp (NJ90SE0039) were also recorded, including concrete platform and foundations for huts, ceramic pipes which formed part of the drainage system for the camp and AA battery (NJ90SE0038).
