Memorial standing within Duthie Park (NJ90SW0989), erected in 1882 which commemorates those in the regiment who died (in action or of disease) in Egypt and the Sudan 1882-4. It is in the form of a Celtic Cross supported by a tapered pillar, the base surrounded by rough hewn boulders. Below the cross head is the Gordon Highlanders crest bearing the motto 'BYDAND', below which is an inscription: ERECTED BY THE OFFICERS, N.C. OFFICERS AND MEN OF THE 1ST BATTALION GORDON HIGHLANDERS TO THE MEMORY OF THEIR COMRADES WHO WERE KILLED IN ACTION OR WHO DIED OF WOUNDS OR DISEASE CONTRACTED DURING THE EGYPTIAN CAMPAIGN 1882 EGYPT 1882 SOUDAN 1884
