Details Site of a well which is said to have stood on the estate of Kingseat. King Malcolm Canmore was said to have sat on a stone (NJ91NW0017) to drink the water from the well. The name of the well is said to be a corruption of 'Better-than-ale well'. There is now no trace of King Seat. On the site of Betteral Well, there is a modern well on concrete with a metal cover, and three other similar structures in the same field.
